The American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM®) certification exam evaluates a general internist's knowledge, diagnostic reasoning, and clinical judgment, particularly their ability to make essential diagnostic and management decisions that affect patient outcomes. The exam features up to 240 multiple-choice questions based on both common and rare clinical cases in the outpatient and inpatient setting, covering diagnosis, testing, treatment, risk assessment, prognosis, epidemiology, and clinically relevant pathophysiology and basic science.
